Women in Olympic Sports presents photographs and
biographies of 23 awe-inspiring women athletes who successfully competed in the Olympic
Games. This publication also includes a variety of motivational activities, many of
which require students to use critical-thinking skills. At the back of the book, there
are biographical sketches, which provide a quick look at the lives of 16 additional
female Olympians. Women have been a part of the Olympic Games for more than 100 years
and many of these women were pioneers in their sport. The foreword is by Anita DeFrantz
an Olympic Bronze Medalist and a member of the International Olympic Committee. |
